Excursion of Loyola and international students to Central Effluent Treatment Plant to Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone
On Friday (06/04/2018), A/Prof. BX Thanh and A/Prof. Dao Son have organized a practical excursion for international students to Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The managers (Ms. Vy and Ms. Tam) from the EPZ warmly welcomed our visit with detailed explanation of the operation and management of the treatment plant. This is one of the academic activities in order to enhance studying efficiency of the subject under the program of Loyola University, Chicago, USA. Joining the excursion, there are 18 students from Loyola University, 01 (BIOSEP) internship student from Switzerland and 03 Vietnamese students from Engish teaching program.
Through the trip, students had a chance to observe and understand the actual operation of the large central effluent treatment plants in an industrial park (capacity of 15,000 m3/day). It was such a best chance for our students to visit a typical industrial central effluent treatment plant using biological treatment (anoxic - oxidation ditch) and physical-chemical processes. The treated effluent were applied online monitoring by environmental agencies of Government like HEPZA and DONRE and Tan Thuan EPZ . In additional, the effluent was used for toxicity test by various fish types.
